OCEAN FREIGHT

Full Container Loads
An FCL shipment contains a shipment in a single container for one consignee. Benefits of an FCL shipment include:
- Flat rate charges
- Reduced chance of damage and loss
- Possibility for a quicker transit time
- Delivery and receipt of the shipment is more convenient for both consignor and consignee
- Reduction in the unloading/loading time could result in reduced lead times
Less than Container Load (LCL)
An LCL shipments refers any cargo which is less that a full container load. As different cargo is grouped into one container, LCL shipments are recommended for clients with smaller volume of imports or exports. Benefits of an LCL shipment include:
- Clients are only charged on the weight and volume of space required, resulting in lower cost than an FCL shipment
- Santova arranges weekly shipments to/from multiple destinations which provides the ability to create a regular shipping schedule
Groupages and Consolidations
Santova has a dedicated Groupage department which allows cargo from multiple suppliers intended for multiple consignees to be grouped at origin, and then ‘de-grouped’ to be cleared and delivered at destination. This ensures cost-savings and convenience for clients.
Consolidations refers to shipments where one consignee imports cargo from multiple suppliers in a similar location, intended for the same destination. Santova is able to combine cargo into one full container load at origin, which results in significantly reduced shipping costs due to increased volume.
Cross Trade Services
Through communication with our global offices and strategic logistics partners, we work to facilitate cross trade freight services. This enables a shipment to move between two countries without having to come into South Africa. The result is lower freight costs, elimination of extra handling costs and optimised logistics process and therefore quicker transit times.

PROJECT AND SPECIALIST CARGO
Efficient of out-of-gauge cargo transportation solutions
Project cargo is the transportation of Out of Gauge (OOG) which may be too heavy or high value to be packed and shipped in standard containers, it may also refer to cargo that is crucial to the intended project, for example equipment or machinery. Cargo can be measured either by weight, size, dimension or composed of complex components that must be disassembled, shipped and then re-assembled.
